IT IS ONLY A GAME, RIGHT?
She saw the flyer for it one day when she was away from camp getting away from all the stress. It had sounded fun. She remembered loving the Disney film of Alice in Wonderland and had read the books when she was just starting in the legion. I mean, an off day wouldn't kill anyone either and she had brought the flyer back with her and let the other Roman's check it if they were so inclined to go. Granted, she was met with a lot of eye rolls at the thought of it but she was sure some would be eager to go. It was a day of fun for gods sake, not like the end of the world if they didn't spend all that day plotting how to kill the Greeks and Titans.
So that is why the daughter of Pluto, leader of the Roman Renegades was now walking slowly through the maze. She wouldn't admit she was lost but well, she was. Not that she was worried, it was dark, tons of shadows for her to play with if she really needed to. But, that was a weaklings way out. She was better than that, she just made more than one wrong turn. She didn't even have an idea where she might be in the maze and to say that it wasn't creepy would be an understatement.
Felicity made another turn and walked silently for another minute or so until she was met with just a wall. She let out a curse in Latin softly. A dead end. She was sure that this was the way she was suppose to go. Maybe she should have taken a page from mythology and come in with a spool of thread, that's what the guy did in the labyrinth. Great, wasn't there a monster in there? The manticore. Felicity tensed up some. No, that was silly, there wouldn't be any monsters in here. It was just a game, right? A stupid silly little sideshow traveling show? She was just paranoid. She had every right to be after all, how much crap had she seen after all? She knew to always keep an eye behind you at all times or to always go with someone. Damnit, that's what she should have done, had someone come with her, in what world did she think coming alone was a good idea?
The sound of approaching footsteps coming from behind her made her freeze, her hand already ready to reach towards her pant leg and grab the hidden dagger there. Her mouth seemed too dry all of a sudden and she swallowed hard. Gods, was she scared? No. Blame it on the stupid maze, it would make anyone experience a reaction ten times more so than normal. She didn't turn around. "It's a dead end. You might as well turn around." Felicity said, trying to not have the fear obvious in her voice as she turned around and tried to see into the darkness at who or what was approaching her.

She rarely ever went around places, it was quite absurd how she’d be roaming a party. Whatever, it didn’t really matter much now, she was slightly interested. Her outfit was definitely something classified as business formal, not something that would be comfortable to run around in. She didn’t really have a n accurate reading on what the party was, so it was more appropriate to overdress rather than underdress. Though it wasn’t at the height of the day, so it wasn’t too hot. Aurora’s style tended to incorporate darker colors and elements often, as a personal choice and expression. She tended to give off an intimidating ambience at first glance, and anyone who knew her could say her personality wasn’t quite off the marker either. She was cold and hostile, there was no lie about that. Manipulative was her middle name, after the war, there were very people still standing that mattered to her. Laurel and Marshall were the last two to have hold that title. [break][break] Though Aurora tended to have a keen eye, navigation was certainly not her strong point. For someone as sophisticated, she found it quite embarrassing that she managed to even get lost in a supermarket. Enclosed spaces were not her forte, something like a city was easy, but not something as large as New York City. It baffled her how some people continued daily life there, functioning in that mess. Aurora was from a smaller city in Northern Sweden, Luleå, most didn’t even know where that was, let alone pronounce it’s name. Well, maybe swedes, but she hadn’t encountered many people from her home country lately. She hadn’t really expected to either. Sweden was relatively small compared to the rest of the world, the chances that there would be another Swedish demigod, weren’t too large, and they likely weren’t Greek. She didn’t really know just how many Romans and Titans there were, and honestly, she didn’t care. They could rot in Tartarus for all she cared. Over her dead body was she going to cooperate with them or much less enjoy their forced company. [break][break] Aurora entered the maze, trying to find whatever context clues to the right direction possible. Whoever had constructed this deceiving jungle had done a rather fine job at it. Navigation was incredibly difficult, and Aurora didn’t have a clue as to where to make her next move. She could always scale the sides and peer over, but that came with the possible price of ruining her clothes, which weren’t exactly cheap. However, she picked up on the sound of something in front of her, what sounded like... footsteps? She could also hear something quietly mumbled, though she couldn’t quite discern what it was at such a low volume. Aurora decided to follow the sounds, perhaps whoever it was would be a suitable acquaintance to aid her in getting out. As much as Aurora didn’t like having to be assisted by others, she wasn’t exactly getting out of here alone. Who knows, maybe she’d meet someone tolerable, who she’d possibly like.[break][break] Aurora turned the corner, noticing a woman standing there, who seemed almost frightened by the whole ordeal. Aurora couldn’t quite tell though. “I’m just trying to investigate to see where everything leads”, Aurora responded, getting closer to the other girl. Aurora bit her lip, looking away for a moment. “Look, I’m lost”, Aurora muttered, this admission paining her to let it leave her mouth. “I don’t know if you’re going anywhere either, I just want to get out of here, you can come if you want, I don’t want to be stuck here alone after dark.” She tried her hardest to cut around the words ‘can you help me’, even though that was her intention, worded in a way Aurora found more suitable. Honestly, this girl didn’t seem too bad. IT IS ONLY A GAME, RIGHT?
Felicity looked at the approaching girl curiously, making sure to keep her guard. She had shared the same idea as her, wanting to figure out where everything lead to and had ended up lost because of it. The approaching female was in the same predicament as her it seemed. Not that that was a bad thing, so as long as the girl didn't cause any trouble. Even if this platinum blonde was a monster Felicity had a ridiculous advantage with all the shadows that were present in this maze. Not that Felicity wanted a fight, if anything she wanted to avoid that at all costs but if it came to it, she would fight as hard as possible to save her own skin, to survive for another day.
"It's not so much the dark I'm concerned about but rather whatever might be hiding in it." Felicity said, looking at the girl, still trying to figure her out whether or not she was friend or foe. Granted, she suppose she could at least play friend, for now. "But you're right, wouldn't want to get stuck here. I think there was a fork a little ways back, maybe if we go the other direction it'll be better." Felicity said before heading back that way, walking seemingly calm. She wondered how long the other girl had been in the maze, Felicity didn't know how long she herself had been in but figured it had to be at the least an hour, probably more. She never did mind being alone though.
"My name's Felicity, by the way. How long have you been in here?" She asked, there was nothing wrong with starting some harmless conversation after all. Might make the entire place seem less eerie. This was definitely not a place they would want to send little kids. Granted, now that Felicity thought about it, there didn't seem to be many, if not any kids coming to this attraction at all. Maybe they had an advertisement about it somewhere telling kids not to go to it. Felicity wouldn't have known. She just saw the one flyer and decided right then that she was going to go and have fun. Which, she had, until she got lost but oh well, shit happened. Best to just adapt, overcome, and improvise. That was always a good motto to live by. Someone once told her the American military used that mindset in it's ranks. Well good on them if they did, now if only Felicity could get that mindset into her own Romans back at the small camp it might make things seem less like a broken pile of junk and more like a well oiled machine. They had a long way to go if they ever wanted to get Rome back to her former glory. Everything took time though, getting over though. From getting over the death of someone you loved to just trying to get out of a stupid carnival maze. It just took patience.

I would definitely question your sanity if you were in here and scared of the dark”, Aurora added, smirking slightly. Well, if she was one of those strange panickers Aurora would have likely just kicked her in the gut or slam her into the maze wall. She didn’t have time to deal with some peasant’s nonsense. Then again, this girl didn’t quite strike Aurora as someone to run away with her tail between her legs, but appearances could deceive? She knew that as hard fact, she wouldn’t have been able to get away with so much if she hadn’t. Playing faces and toying with people was one of Aurora’s specialties. There were very few people alive and well Aurora cared for, some halfway across the globe the last Aurora had heard or seen of them. What a pity, nothing here to really hold her back. Gods forbid a Roman crossed her path, she was certain the outcome wouldn’t be well. She’d never seen one in the flesh, but the thought of streaking her blade with it’s blood was promising. Waltzing to the joint camp to destroy it was too risky, yes. The chances of capture were high, especially alone. [break][break] “By that do you mean fairytale monsters or serial killers?”, Aurora said, curiously raising an eyebrow at the other woman. Her gaze was carefully set on her, as if Aurora were trying to figure out just how to interpret her statement. Perhaps she was another demigod, though that wasn’t really likely. This woman was likely just another mortal, and Aurora didn’t want to go off spouting rubbish to someone she barely knew. She didn’t know much of who else were here, but there weren’t a crazy amount of demigods now after a good number had been slaughtered during the war. It would have been safe of the Swedish blonde to assume that she might have just been the only demigod there. That was the mindset she always had, careful with cover and watching her words closely, unless they were meant to insult. Even her sharp-tongued insults were carefully planned, with a specific goal in mind. Aurora was always quite manipulative, and the feelings and motives of other people rarely mattered to her, as she would try and move people towards her ideals and intentions. Aurora listened on to the woman’s statement, and responded with “Alright. I don’t know if we took the same steps, for all I know there could be many tunnels that lead into this specific stretch.” Damn it, why didn’t she have her sidekick Laurel around now. She could just try and get her to lead her out, that would have been so much easier than retracing her steps to the fork that this woman was talking about. [break][break] “Aurora Aldenberg, I suppose it is pleasure to meet you Felicity”, Aurora added after Felicity’s statement, nodding slightly. “Not much, only around twenty to thirty minutes I presume, forty five maybe as a stretch, I can’t recall the time I entered exactly”, Aurora said, taking a quick glance around. The sky above hadn’t changed much, nor did her watch time last she had checked. For all she knew though, they could only be in the first quarter of the maze, there could be an endless spiral in front of her and Felicity.
